Spiros Cotsakis is a mathematician and theoretical cosmologist. His research interests are: dynamical systems (bifurcation theory, singularity theory, catastrophe theory), and general relativity (theoretical cosmology, spacetime singularities, black holes).

Since 2020, Spiros holds a research professorship at the Institute of Gravitation and Cosmology, RUDN University, Moscow, RF. He is a Life Member at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, UK., and has been a Professor at the University of the Aegean, Samos, Greece, a Scientific Associate at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland, a Visiting Fellow at DAMTP, Cambridge University, UK, and a visiting professor in various universities and research centers around the world. He lives in Athens, Greece, with his wife, and they have two sons.
